For packaging applications, polyester film has several advantages over other commonly used plastic films: Superior mechanical properties such as stiffness, tear and puncture resistance; temperature range from -40°C to 220°C; flavour barrier to preserve freshness; excellent clarity and a flat uniform surface to aid conversion.
Heat sealable polyester films offer a single web packaging solution where polyester is required. Typical applications are the lidding of ready meal trays, sandwich packs, packaging of fresh produce, convenience food and flow wrapping.
HiFi is an authorised distributor of DuPont packaging films and is certified to the BRC/IoP technical standard for supplying packaging materials to the food industry.
Tray lidding
HiFi stock the Mylar® heat sealable range of films manufactured by DuPont Teijin Films; there are a wide range of both peelable and permanent seal options for packaging chilled prepared salads and ready meals that will be reheated in either microwave or conventional ovens.

Sandwich packs
Polyester film provides a cost effective and machine tolerant solution for sandwich wedge lidding, Mylar® RL offers peelable seals to a variety of different materials with the option of anti-fog for improved clarity at refrigerated storage conditions.

Flow wrap
Mylar® 850 is ideal for flow wrapping items such as garlic bread where the packaging film must withstand cooking or re-heating temperatures, and have an odour barrier to contain aromas within the package.
Other aromatic non food products such as fire lighters, air fresheners and toilet blocks also benefit from the properties offered by Mylar® heat sealable films.

Carton window films
Polyester film is the most widely used window substrate for both food and non food cartons. HiFi offers a universal food contact approved grade of polyester film with excellent clarity and stiffness together with a surface suitable for most window patching glue systems.
